Introduction:
General Aviation is under increasing pressure from governmental agencies since the terror attacks of September 11. Increased restrictions, curtailed access, and heightened security concerns have all served to put stress and burdens on the GA community.

With this new emphasis by the FAA and Homeland Security, it is more important than ever to remain vigilant and cautious. Pilots, normally a helpful group, are at the peril of the FAA and other government agencies. FAA regulations have far reaching consequences.

As a community, we tend to accept that rules must be followed and the consequence of not following those rules is some type of repercussion. This makes society and flying work for all of us. This, of course, is a macro view for society. The Jump Law Group focuses on the micro view, the individual. Because when the FAA sends out a letter of enforcement action or asks you to "call the center", the macro view is now irrelevant. What matters is that you make sure your rights are protected and guarded so that you maintain the privelege of flying.

A History of Flying - Why I Fly
I was too young to recall my first flight. . I have vague recollections of sitting in an airplane at our base airport (3N5). I'm quite confident that I was in an airplane before I was 3. But my first real recollection of my passion for flying was on a warm summer day, I had to be at least 8 or 9 years old. I stood behind my Grandfathers Piper J3 smelling the exhaust of the Continental engine as it willed the grass to bend behind the airplane.

My father and I flew around alot in that Piper Cub and later we took some trips in my Grandfathers 182. My entire childhood was spent planning on becoming a pilot.

My grandfather was a pilot, my father is a pilot, my uncle is a pilot as are my cousin and myself. Three generations of pilots in my family. For myself, my father, and my grandfather, we were all taught to fly by the same gentleman and we all learned in the same J3 Cub. I think he had quite the claim to say that he had taught three generations how to fly over the course of all his years. (click here for more)

Drinking and Flying
Of course you don't drink and fly. You know that alcohol slows your reactions times, causes trouble with your eyesight and is always a poor idea when you want to go flying.

But what most people don't realize is that a DUI can very much adversely affect your airmen certificate and your DUI attorney may not even realize it.
